Lenticular Clay was my final project for an interdisciplinary between the Architecture, Interior Architecture, and Ceramics departments at the Rhode Island School of Design. The prompt was the design a masonry wall system and to make a fragment of it for installation. The concept was inspired by lenticular prints, where an image changes as the user’s perspective shifts. This was a group project - with one member from each discipline - and we experimented with creating a rich optical experience using only solid masonry units. The brick faces are grooved, a device which allows them to lock together but also shift incrementally to give the wall its undulating effect. The spatial schemes are my own, and represent how the system might function in the built environment.
