This six-story, 6,100 square-foot townhouse on Manhattan's Upper East Side underwent a complete green renovation. All materials, means, and methods were designed and reviewed for their environmental impact.
The project features a wide array of wood species throughout: reclaimed white oak flooring at the ground level; exposed and pickled joists on the ceiling; oak in the library; mahogany cabinetry in the master; and ship lap pine panels in the children's room.
The living room and staircase were restored, and the kitchen received a wood-burning fireplace, as requested by the owner who dreamed of cooking over an open flame.
The fabrics used for the custom upholstered furniture swayed toward natural leathers and skins, and the interior was peppered with objects and art evoking adventure, aviation, and exploration - all passions of our client.
